His son Jeff had absolutely no clue about finances as he was buying replica swords as Investments . Neither father or son were were too bright and they lacked total common sense. This is a cautionary tale for anyone who lands a windfall.

It's good to see they modified things there. I have seen a few episodes of the TLC show but I didnt remember actually seeing mr fick in any of the ones I watched. Wouldnt be surprised if his son mismanaged the money. We keep hearing about shifty money managers being accused of ripping off clients and such.

He was the main reason why the state of Michigan had to modify their qualification process in order to receive food stamps. He did have a lot of issues with the law but most were misdemeanors. If feel his son Jeff was the main cause of him going broke as that was his money manager and if you saw the TLC show you would most likely agree, nevertheless May he Rest In Peace

Mr fick was the one if I remember right, that got in trouble when people found out he was still receiving Gov assistance after his big win. plus he had several runs with the law as well that resulted in jail time.

Just read that Leroy Fick who won close to a million dollars about 11 years ago and appeared on TLC with his worthless son was found floating in a river in Michigan.
