Patterns can easily result from random events. Were you just curious if there was a (different) pattern, or were you trying to find a way to predict future results? I appreciate recreational math, but I'm assuming that most people who are analyzing past results are doing it as part of their process to decide what numbers to play in the future.

At one time I used a notebook with printed pages for Pick 3. Top Line was Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

Each line below that was the numbers that fell on that day.

My reasoning was to see if there was a correlation/pattern between the numbers drawn and the day of the week.

Was it a fact there were more doubles on Monday?

Were there more 7's on Thursday?

People use their software or filters with what the filter can do. For example using Monday Friday, or only for the months Septemper and January, or only the 1st day or last day of every month. I'd love to hear their logic reasoning for doing that.

energy/mindset of the person/people doing an experiment can affect the outcome of the experiment (which is why we now have double and triple blind studies).

Some people aren't very good at thinking logically or critically. Tracking mid-day and evening games separately would make sense (insofar as there's any sense to tracking past results) if they were drawn using totally independent equipment that's not used for both drawings. I hear you. The money is not in the Bonus number, the big payout is in the regular numbers. It sounds easy to just drop the Bonus number from my analysis, but will I possibly be shooting myself in the foot because my data will no longer show the complete picture?

This isn't only a game of luck but also and mainly of money. You should work on what pays. If that extraball doesn't pay and it doesn't help anywhere, then drop it. If you have a purpose yes, and if you use all 7 but check with 6 next, then your 6 or 7 n. analysis is not it. So you have multiple cases, but 6/49? A 6/45 already is a struggle. Using 7 numbers to get 6 numbers? Load the db with 6 first, 7 first, or 7th alone, isolate the 7th and look with which numbers that combined, find the 7th n... [ More ]

As the ball comes from the same pot I would include it in the analysis. It's like a free additional ball draw, with the understand it may throw some things off like sums. My Dos GH allows me to toggle the bonus ball on and off so I can see what difference it makes, like in Followers. At least your bonus balls are helpful rather then in there to make it harder to win. Before the U.S. went nuts I used to play the Au game with two bonus balls, it was a good game to play.

In that case, I still agree with KY Floyd. I'd count it as a regular number just as the Canadian lottery does.

But then I'd get anal and track it both ways to see if there was an advantage to either.

Best case scenario you find some number or pairs hit more often when certain number(s) fall as the bonus ball. Or vice versa, some pairs bring a certain bonus ball.

Your choice.

Nope, it's not really Gail Howard stuff .

It is part of the lottery game, in a similar way to how the red power ball is part of the lottery game. GH may offer advice on Bonus numbers and red power balls, but it's not a GH thing.

Unlike Powerball, you can't select a Bonus number. And getting the Bonus number leads to a different payout than the regular balls. But it is drawn from the same ball set.

In Canada, our jackpot draws have Bonus numbers. In our 6/49 game, you can select 6 numbers to play, but there will be 7 numbers drawn from the same drum (in the same color, with the same ball set). There are 6 regular numbers drawn, plus 1 extra number which is called the Bonus number.
