Was Monday's final total 549? The 570 was already planned about half a day before they had the final total, and they probably have a policy of never changing the initial amount once they make a forecast.

I suspect that typical jumps between jackpots will be smaller now that there are 3 drawings instead of 2. Some people won't spend the extra 50% or they'll wait for an even bigger jackpot before they start playing, and I imagine some people still aren't used to having a drawing on Mondays. Tha... And again it only increases by 21 million. I admit I don't have a great memory, but doesn't it usually increase by 3 times that amount when the jackpot is over 500 million

The lottery doesn't know how players will behave on today and Monday. 16M is a safe estimate where sales will land by draw time on Monday. If it's higher they will tweak the amount at draw time. Do you plan on buying a ticket

Megamillions is only at 22 million, so nobody is putting extra money there chasing that jackpot.

But the Powerball jackpot only went up 16.2 million after last night's draw!

I was expecting 50 million. At this rate, there won't be a surge in sales till it hits a billion. What the heck is affecting Powerball sales now
