I rarely play but always get the multiplier. Worth it for 1 ticket.

What's the point with powerball and the mega plier with 10 ? It rarely happens. I guess they know what they want.

ON PB No! I sometimes just plunk down 2 extra bucks and get a different Powerball (1,2,3,4,5 1/ 1,2,3,4,5 2) . That way you have a shot at the $2 mil for second prize and you have another shot at the prizes that need the powerball so if you are cheap and just get the PowerPlay you miss out on a second chance for the jackpot.

For MegaMillions I don't play it enough and going by the actuall $5million prizes awarded in my state it just isn't worth it so why not just plunk down $4 with two... [ More ]

I always play the multiplier on PowerBall or Megamillions .

I know you need to win something first before it can be multiplied, but j ust think... for an extra $1, all of those second prize winners could have won 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x their $1,000,000.00 prize (except in CA.

For tonight's 8/1 Mega draw I played to win at least the 5-0 prize with a 7 number full wheel with 21 lines and 4 Mega balls used, plus paying for the megaplier, cost $63. I was fortunate to get 3 WBs on 6 lines with megaplier 4x = $240.

Additionally, there is a difference in the method the multiplier is selected.

Mega Millions uses a Ball Drawn Number, whereas, Powerball Lotto America uses a Computer Generated Number.

Powerball is too stingy with their multiplier. If you want to play the multiplier, I'd go with Mega Millions.

I only play once in a while because the odds are so bad, but I always get the Mega Plier, or Power Ball option. If I don't hit the jackpot at least I have a chance on a decent second or third prize on the 2 or 3 tickets I do buy.

The multiplier options only make sense if you actually win something. Since MM and PB are lose a lot lotteries, I don't play the multiplier option most of the time.

The most it paid off for me was an extra $10 in MM. Of course, it was x2, the lowest multiplier.

I always play the multiplier option. In PB or Mega, I always hope to get the 4 WB + PB(MB) as my main win and that prize is best in the PB over Mega. Of course Mega has PB beat on the 5-0 prize with multiplier. But using the multiplier has helped me to win back more of my losses when I am lucky enough to get the PB(MB) or perhaps one or two of the WBs. I have been lucky enough to get the 10x multiplier in PB a couple of times. I probably recklessly spent $90 on the Tuesday Mega, but got the #25

It appears the Multiplier option is better for Mega Millions than the other multistate lotteries: Powerball Lotto America.

Below we can see Mega Millions has a better payout for x4 than the other lotteries.
