Yes, your comparison is valid, but ignores what happens almost all the time when you play these lottos:

Play $5/line on MM, and lose $5/line.

Play $2/line on PB, and lose $2/line.

From the perspective of happens almost all the time when playing these lottos (losing), PB comes out ahead, because you lose less.

I just play for the entertainment and what-if aspect..... The changes back in 2017 cured me of being a regular participant of the Big 2. After that, I never played either until the $200M CASH value reared it's ugly face. But with MM at $5 a pop and only a $10M increase after each of the first 4 draws? I'm up to 19 bucks a week. On average I would spend a couple extra bucks if the jackpots where astromical,. That was before the price increase. But no more. And the only reason I'm still playing. Is because I have been playing the same numbers for about 20 years. I have never matched anymore than 2 balls so far. I'm thinking of completely dropping out. I agree. I personally play 2 numbers, but I dropped the MM from my game rotation.

I would not even be mad if my numbers were drawn in that game.

I have been considering adding the power play option to my Powerball tickets with the money I saved from dropping MM.

Same thinking with me. I haven't played MM in months. I don't play PB every week, but a couple times a month I'll get a couple PB tix on Saturdays.

I keep my playing budget at $10 - $12 a week.

Because these two games have different prices, in order to compare the two games, let's say I wish to spend $10 (the smallest amount with which I can buy a whole number of tickets for either game). I am only considering PB with no multiplier for $1 extra. Personally, I consider the multiplier option a waste of money. If I want to spend more money on lottery tickets, I'll just buy more of them.

For $10, I can buy 2 MM tickets, or I can buy 5 PB tickets.
