I look at all the other in state tickets to decide which to play. Michigan has a $30 scratch for $4 million and a $50 scratch for $6 million so I try not to play the state 6/xx game until the Jackpot is at least $6 Million but sometimes I cut in at $4 million. It all depends on what is available in your state and what you are shooting for.

Here in NY a ticket for Lotto gives me nearly 13 time the chance of a jackpot as a ticket for PB or MM, and the Lotto ticket is only $1, and the cash value of Lotto is also slightly better than it is for PB or MM. Based on that I figure each $1 million of the advertised jackpot for Lotto is the probabilistic equivalent of $26 million for PB or $65 million for MM. I played PB with the powerplay until my state lotto game got to about $9 million cash. Then I dropped PB and focused on Lotto rather heavy. Also play the 2 Step game for a buck.

Haven't played MM since mid December.

Since I've given up on Mega Millions, I'm looking at maybe betting on my State Lottery (Indiana). I was wondering,

For those betting on their state lottery, do you have a minimum Jackpot amount? I assume that the Cash Payout value (after-tax) of the state lottery is about 25% (for Indiana it's about 27.5%, but the math is easier at 25%). So I wait until it hits $10M. Any thoughts
