It's 128 in 1,000. That's a much higher number (0.1280, not 0.0078).

The 1 in 128 figure would be correct if the lottery only drew 1 of 128 combinations. They don't. They draw 1 of 1,000 combinations.

If your claim is that the odds of one ticket winning a straight bet improves to 1 in 128, it means that every single drawing has a number from your list. This is false. Your list wins occasionally, not every single time.

I looked on the Big Winners section on the Michigan lottery website and set the date from when the current Mega Millions started until NOV 2 and there were two prizes of $50k and above in Michigan for Mega Millions during that time and those were $50k and $3Million.

For PowerBall , in Michigan, there were 84 prize at or above $50k and those were many $50k prizes and several $1million and $2million prizes.

Maybe that will help you figure it out?

Good point. I mean I get it... I get both sides. The dollar is worth less because of inflation. But I also see where alot of people no longer have that extra disposable income to buy a ticket. People are willing to spend more on scratchers because the odds of winning something are far higher -- about 1 in 4. A $5 ticket that wins $5 can be replayed. A $10 win can be replayed for two more tickets. That initial price can buy you multiple chances to win a lot of money and you only have to be moderately lucky because most of the prize money is at the lower end which is easier to win.
