I love numbers because they can bring me money if I win the jackpot.

I love numbers that way.

I've studied different areas of mathematics such as binary, octal, Boolean math, and hexidecimal. I often used the Pythogorean theorem.

But I didn't love numbers that way.

You can't eliminate any combinations by buying tickets. The lottery doesn't print a ticket for you and enter that combination into their do not draw list. All combinations in the matrix can be drawn. It doesn't matter if every combination was bought 12 times. You cannot eliminate combinations by buying tickets.

Your chances of winning is (number of unique combinations purchased) divided by (total number of combinations possible).

A second ticket doesn't eliminate any combinations.

You double your chances of winning (i.e. odds cut in half) because 2/292M is double that of 1/292M.

The tickets themselves are all 1 in 292M. It's how many tickets YOU hold that affects YOUR odds of winning.

Originally we were talking about PB odds of 292.2 million he said the first ticket was up against that and buying a second ticket cut those odds in half. Since lottery odds come from the possible number of combinations I doubt that a second ticket eliminates over 146 million combinations. So that's how I somehow heard that it cuts the odds in half . No, actually I do work on the casino floor. When one of my players hits a jackpot for $2,000, I'm not going to look them up in player tracking to see that they lost $3,000 today, prior to that one spin, and then go over there and say oh hi Krystal I see you've LOST $1,000 today!

Get a grip. When someone wins $2,000 on a slot machine, that one spin is a winner. I do get sore winners who whine that they've lost $3,000 in order to win $2,000 just now. That's their problem.

Tucker Black, Since you say you work in a casino I'll take a real wild guess that you are far removed from the action. You have a problem realizing that someone who plays $3000 and wins $2000 Is STUCK $1000. No matter what flaky definition or explanation you try to come up with they are STUCK $1000. Stick to accounting or whatever you do because you have not got a clue about gambling results. STUCK means amount lost, also known as 'in the hole'.

The possible draws never go away.

The average life span of a human is 72 years, and the lottery is unavailable to anyone under 18. That gives roughly 54 years that you might play... so of that 1,221,759 possible outcomes there will only be 19,710 draws (and that is if it is a daily game)

It would take 3,347 years to POSSIBLY see all of the combos drawn.

You still don't get it. A lock, sure bet wins. Not puts up some and loses some but is no doubt a winner. You work in a casino and say the dealers takes chips out of the 'tray'. You said a bet that is guaranteed to win. In the lottery, slots, and live keno, any bet that pays the gambler something is called a win . It is only in table games, and not the progressive side bets where the wins are stated as for 1 rather than to 1 , that a win is defined to be a net win. winter bird, I tried telling someone here that there is no such thing as a lock, a sure thing, meaning a bet that cannot lose. So they come up with a scenario of making a $100 bet that will lose $50 and calling that a lock. This made me think it was a LP version of misheard lyrics. Good Luck to you too.

Once in a while, when I can, I play enough single draw of a state lotto to cut the odds down to under 1:7,000 for the jackpot. I have never won the jackpot. Only some free ticket plays and occasionally $10 (most of the time never any cash).

Instead of playing one set of numbers for Illinois Lucky Day Lotto (5/45 progressive jackpot, tonight $750,000) I played five. So according to some herer I've cut ther odds of 1,221,759 down to 38,719 so surely I can expect to win somethnig tonight, no?

I was tempted to go anoither six sets which woukd have brogught the odds down to under a million, 596,562 but was playing on a lotto vending machikne and only had as $20 pon me and since thr machines don't give change passed it up.
