Thanks for the info...I was trying to figure out the real odds of winning not just the mathematical odds (if that makes any sense). For instance, there are about 11 winners of the jackpot over the course of a year. If there are a 500 million tickets sold over the year, what is the likelihood of actually winning. I know that mathematically your odds are the same each time, but what is the likelihood. Thanks again

The number of winning tickets are posted at Biggamelottery.com after each drawing. Assuming the number of winning tickets is proportional to the number of tickets bought, the numbers of tickets bought don't double when the jackpot doulbles and is under 100mil.,but more people play as the jackpot grows. This week many of the Ohioian that normally play Biggame in Michigan are headed for the Powerball states.

It appears to me that it is kinda hard to come up with an average...When the jackpot is under $10 million ..then I would say that the average is twice the increase over the previous week..or 2x $2million As the increase grows larger...the amount of sales is 2x whatever the increase is...When they raise the jackpot $10 million dollard over the previous drawing...then the sales is $20 million for that game...Just a thought..

Sounds about right to me. There are sources for an exact number of tickets sold for each game. The only one I know of for sure is a book that we advertise on BigGameLottery.com called the LaFleur's Lottery Almanac (expensive book).-Todd

I noticed that there are usually 300,000 to 500,000 winning tickets for each games depending on the size of the Jackpot and the payout is 1/31. Therefore the aveage winning tickets (400,000) x 31 = 12,400,000 aveage tickets sold for each game. Am I close?RJOh
