Point of order: Look at the budgets for those state initiatives, you'll see that they typically haven't increased (in real terms) since the introduction of the lottery. What usually happens is that, before a lottery is introduced, education (for example) gets $10 billion from the state. After the introduction of the lottery, education gets $5 billion from the lottery and $5 billion from the state. the reason states have limits is because back a few years ago a group of investors all pooled their money for i believe it was either virginia or south carolina state lottery and bought all possible numbers (9 million) and won 27 million and tripled their investment... kind of anti-competitive if you ask me...

I heard about a group that went in and bought 200,000 tickets and didn't win a dime. The number of ticket you have may increase you chances but you never know. I wouldn't have wasted all that money on it.

The cities I went had really no lines, and sure it took a long long time to print out each ticket, even some people behind me got pissed and left the place. I am bound to win something at least.

Where did you find a place to buy that many tickets. When I went to Michigan last week to buy tickets, the store had a sign that had a limit of $200 at one time and then you had to go back to the end of the line. With those kind of rules it would have be a pain to buy $1000 worth of tickets.RJOh

You never know, I just spent my entire life savings yesterday. So, I am going to win at least $150,000. But, I think I will win it all since I bought $45,785 worth of tickets.

So many people go nuts over something they will never ever win, and then they drool and envy when someone else wins the whole thing. People waste hundreds of millions on this crap. Ban the lotteries NOW
