The difference between annuity-only/choice of lump sum, and 0/00 on roulette wheels is significant. When players receive annuity payments through lottery winnings (cash option or not) the lottery DOES NOT benefit. Massachusetts has nothing to gain by forcing its 6/42 and 6/49 winners to receive annuities. On the other hand, the 0/00 on the roulette wheel has everything to do with the house advantage .

Perhaps. But they're the ones making the rules. When was the last time someone walked into a casino and yelled you're wrong to have two 0's on your roulette wheel. I want you to switch to one zero! Though, I do agree with you.

If they had played ANY OTHER online US jackpot game than the two I mentioned, the player(s) would have been able to play for a LUMP SUM (although some games still require the choice be made when ticket is bought.) I just think the rules for the 6/42 and 6/49 games in MA are just plain WRONG in this respect.

I know some of you will disagree with me-but, since 6/42 MA Megabucks (from which the ticket came from) and 6/49 Mass Millions are still ANNUITY-ONLY (unlike BG/MM), maybe it's better that the ticket holder never came forward. Perhaps they found out too late that there is no cash option.
