Approximately 1 out of 30.8 tickets sold is a winner of some kind, so multiply the number of winners by 30.8 to get a pretty close estimate of the number of tickets sold.

That's ture!Chance of having a jackpot winner is not highly correlated to the # of the lower tiers winner!The best estimate for the % of having a winner is the (1/Combinations)^Combination. Eg, (1/76 Mil)^76 Mil. For no winner should be 1 -Previous %.

I would think the actual chance of jackpot hit/not hit would be determined by the numbers of tickets SOLD, instead of the number of winners of all prize categories. The number of tickets sold in each of the seven (now nine) states must be virtually impossible to find out without being an employee of one of the participating lotteries.
