Sounds like you forgot that the cash value of Ohio 6/49 Lotto is artificially low because their cash option winners DO NOT receive the full cash value that is used to fund those who select annuity.

The MagaMillion is 12M and the Ohio649Plus is 11M. Even is their jackpots were the same their cash values would be different because their annunities are different, one is over a 25yrs period and the other is over a 30yrs period. If the annunity was for 35yrs, the cash value would be even less.RJOh

You got that right Todd! NJ Pick-6 right now at $38 million, and its inching closer to the record. I think it was around $44 million. 5 of 6 gets you like $2,500+, but you only chose from 49 #'s. While Big Game you choose from 52 #'s.

ROW,It will be interesting to watch the first time the Mega Millions jackpot progresses. I think it will grow faster than the old Big Game, but I'm not sure exactly how fast.As for an equal 6/49 jackpot having better odds, you're right! The difference is that Mega Millions has much better lower-tier prizes. For example, if you hit 5 of 6 in NJ, you might get about $2,500. In MM, if you hit the first 5 numbers, you get $175,000. There are also more ways to win (total of nine). Each game has pluses... [ More ]

I guess I understand that the states just foot the bill on the first drawing after it hits...It is just that THEY INFERRED that each roll-over was going to be at least $10 million when they were trying to sell the idea of this new game...I am personally just having a hard time rationalizing in my own mind the benefit when the odds change from 1 in 78 million to 1 in 135 million that the game pot is only being predicted at only $2 million more..If the 6/49 game is $12 million too and its odds are... [ More ]
