There was someone arrested in N.C. for having lottery tickets on him in the state of N.C.. Check the Big game news and you will find it. (I think they locked him up and threw away the key. Just kidding, LOL.

Has the 3 states governments, the 3 state lottery boards, or the multi-state lotteries, even been asked about this wonderful idea? I really doubt it. I can't see them giving up one dollar of profit or tax revenue. Oh ya, and have they actually arrested and/or convicted anyone of having a lottery ticket in N.C? I'm tough on crime. NC _would not_ penalize holders of winning tickets from the three neighboring states. NC would simply be reimbursed by the three states based on estimated lottery sales to NC residents.

Government can do almost anything it wants if it only affects people who can't fight back and is a subject legal aid or the alcu wouldn't be interested in protecting the rights of lottery players.Here in Florida some moron passed a law that prevents us from playing most of the free lotto games and sweepstakes out there unless the company posts a bond proving they will pay the prize. Some years back Tennesse, tried this, But The Govener there said that if that bill were to pass he would half to be the first arrested. Ended that bill. I don't think N.C. is thinking this one thru. I think that if this bill were to pass it could be overturned by the supreme courts. How can they take 70% winnings from a person for winning a lottery from another state and not take 70% winnings from the people who win at the Cheroke Casino which is right there in there State.

Haha, I was just reading that article.. -- a Tax Me More Fund for people who want to voluntarily pay more taxes would be created in a bill filed by Sen. Jim Forrester, R-Gaston. The money would be mailed to the state treasurer and designated for any specified state program. For people who want to voluntarily pay more taxes ? 70% of all proceeds of estimated ticket sales from NC residence? Is that before or after they take the cash out for the prize pools and overhead? I can't even see the 3 local lottery boards agreeing to this. And I certainly can't see the 3 NC's neighbor state governments agreeing to this. And if this effects multi-state lottery revenue in any negitive way, it's a dead deal. This can't be an accurate story.

According to the story on the BG-MM homepage, NC would be able to recoup 70% of the estimated proceeds of ticket sales to NC residents in its lottery neighbors (Georgia, Virginia, and South Carolina) while continuing to deny NC merchants the right to sell lottery tickets. The bill also would (continue) to make it a crime to possess lottery tickets within NC other than from the three adjacent states (for example, multi-draw Florida Lotto tickets, even from Northeast residents passing through NC)....
