With the MegaMillion jackpot getting near a $100M, now is the best time you will have to convince your friends and relatives to start a pool. Write down some kind of contract, so everyone in the pool is clear about how the pool works and who is entered. It doesn't have to be a long term pool, it can be until this jackpot is won. Good luck to you.RJOh

There are some lottery club/pool sites listed on Lotto-logix. Maybe you can get a copy of the rules and agreement for your club. The hardest thing is keeping it together after a couple weeks of not winning. Good luck.

Just wanted to let you know that I started a lottery pool that consists of a mixture of friends/coworkers and relatives. We play the Mega Millions Lottery and just completed our second drawing. I've made up a Constitution that spells out the lottery pool rules. So far ideas keep popping up so I made an amendment to it and will probably make another change here shortly. I've contacted IRS about procedures and what forms are needed to be completed if we should be so lucky to hit the jackpot. We pl... [ More ]

I recommend joining a good and honest pool, but first it depends on where you are. The Ohio example is a good example of non-support of pool players by a lottery corporation. Other lotto corps promote pool play by posting a group play form on their website. As long as you are on the form they will gradly pay out individually by the stated interest on the form. All major Canadian lotteries support group play and I believe some states do as well.

Before I retired I regular participated in several lottery pools with my associates at work. We played the Ohio lottery when the jackpot was 12M or greater and matched 5 of 6 three times and in another pool we played Powerball when jackpot was 60M or greater and never won any real money. In the Ohio pool there was always a problem when we matched 5, because unless it was the jackpot, Ohio paid the winnings to one person who also had to pay the taxes. Because we saw each other at work everyday, w... [ More ]
