Hello All,I think MUSL will shoot themselves in the foot if this goes forward.. If the added money (because of the 25 M cap) is added to the second or third tier prizes than it will be nice, if you hit, but who are we kidding.. in this society everyone playing (ok maybe one ot two percent don't) are shooting for the grand prize.What does this do to games like Hot Lotto? I think everyone is getting upset over nothing. First off there has been no official announcement from MUSL yet. So until that happens we shouldn't get too upset.My first reaction when I heard about the $25 Mil cap was one of disgust until I thought about it. Depending on how MUSL rolls down money over the cap, it may work out to be worthwhile.Most people play for the jackpots. I know. Powerball has 42 powerballs and the prize for matching that is $3. Mega Millions has 52 and the prize is a measly $2. Why is that? But hey I don't know about you guys, but I am pretty glad that there are lower tier prizes. I mean if they only had the jackpot and no chance of winning anything else would you actually play. Odds of 1 in 40 something are workable. But if the odds of winning any prize were 1 in 135,145,920 I don't think I would play that game that often or ever.

Most players from New England will buy Mega Millions tickets in MA. Those in New Jersey will stay in NJ. Many players in eastern Pennsylvania will go to NJ.

That is insain logic, but that may be it. So, when the PB states start flooding NY for MegaMillions tickets, will MegaMillions put in a $25,000,000 cap? Most people play for the grand prize. I'm surprise the PB power play option is as successful as it is....or isn't. Even with the increased odds, PB will never have a $250,000,000 jackpot ever again. This is gonna' kill there sales when there MM neighbors have bigger jackpots 65+% of the time.

yeah maybe it is worse varying from customer to customer. BUT i was trying to get the point to vegas PAYOUT. for example some slot machines payout 97%. so im saying if $1,000,000 is bet on a slot machine the casino makes something like 3% on a million dollars and pays out 97% in the long run. but if theres a million bet on the lotto only $500k is paid out. but like the lotto winning big in vegas the odds are against you. you just got to be lucky to win big money.

I live not far from Greenwich, CT (though I usually play in Danbury, near I-84.) I'm guessing the CT Lottery wanted some kind of jackpot limit because Greenwich is overrun by players from the NYC area when PB gets big. Also, MUSL probably thinks Mega Millions has too high jackpot odds while limiting second prize to 175k.

I don't like these changes. Especially the $25,000,000 cap. It could be that the plan is to roll the 'extra' money into the next lower jackpot after the 'big one' has been won. As in:if a $200,000,000+ is won, the next $10,000,000 jackpot would instead get the 'extra' revenue from the previous jackpot and could start off as $90,000,000 (just making up a number). I saw that Pennsylvania has announced what the next version of Powerball will be like, including a bonus prize (presumably Power Surge or whatever name will be used.) I DO know that the PowerPlay option will be modified so that the minimum multiplier is 2x.
