I consider it rare that 5 numbers are drawn in a row. 3 are common. 4 happens occasionally. But show me where 5 in a row have been drawn.

It's funny you should bring that up. Because in the history of the PA Daily Number (Pick3) it wasn't until 2000 that the last number than had never been drawn was finally drawn. That's roughly over 8,000 drawings.

1-2-3-4-5, There are also millions of other combinations that have not been drawn yet. Write a random number program and eventually it will come up, given enough time.

A few years ago, there was a European investment group, featured on the T.V. 'How they do that' that actually did that in Virgina lottery when they had better odds. They had a bunch of bonded players and their cards made out and waited for the jackpot to get to a certain point. When you check how often the combination 1-2-3-4-5 has matched 3 in the Biggame database, it has done as well as any other combination before it matched 5. Why would you consider it a worse combination than any other? In other words, what parameters are you using to eliminate unlikely combinations?RJOh

the theory sounds good (eliminating less likely combos) except for one thing. just because the odds appear greater, they are not. because the lottery balls have no memory , each ball has an EQUAL chance of coming up as any other. so in all actuallity because the lottery is random, it would be shooting yourself in the foot by eliminating ANY combinations. it would not feel very good to have spent all that money and time filling out all the payslips only to have the combos that you eliminated... Visiondude,You are right that it would be mathematically impossible to buy every number in the time allowed before the drawing. However there are two things you could do:1) Eliminated unrealistic combos from your list. I realize the odds of 01-02-03-04-05 Mega 01 coming up are 135 Million to 1 just like 07-14-33-35-50 Mega 04. But you and I both know that it is VERY UNLIKELY that 01-02-03-04-05 would come up. If you bought all the tickets you don't have to bring them all to the same store. There are thousands of stores that offer the lottery. If you brought your tickets to a hundred or more stores that would also take off a lot of time. Just a thought.

A company in New York bought all 80 million combinations for a jackpot worth a couple hundred million and a lot of people thought that was cheating. What would be neat is if someone set up a lotto registry . You log on ... pick the amount of tickets that you pledge to play, get your number sets and then those possibilities come out of the system. Once the registry became popular, they could guarantee a winner from their site. I would be ready to sign up.

according to Gail Howard,to wheel all combinations in a 49 number game,it would take one terminal processing 1600 tickets per hour running 18 hours a day for 485 days to process the 13,983,816 combinations...a little daunting isn't it?-Bri

If you hired 10,000 people and they stood in front of the ticket machine 24 hours a day and fed the tickets thru 1 per second how long would it take. 135,000,000 / 60 = 2,250,000 hours.2,250,000 hours / 24 = 93,750 days10,000 people / 93,750 days = 9.375 days.

the lottery has already addressed that issue. you have to fill out by hand all lottery payslips. (obviously doesn't apply to quick picks). but in order to play every possible combo you have to fill it out by hand. and we know how long it would take to fill out 135 million payslips !! seems like i heard a long time ago that someone attempted it so the lottery instituted that law ........v-dude
