Pennsylvania would have been surrounded by lottery states by the mid-1980s when WV started theirs. Besides, there are too many Northeastern moderates in PA to keep it from being a true Bible Belt state.

You're definitely right that PA is conservative. The fact that the PA Lottery benefits older Pennsylvanians is evidence of that. I think if it didn't benefit older Pennsylvanias we might not have a lottery.

I think it would be very good if the Keystone State had a keno game similar to NY Quick Draw/MD Keno/WV Travel Keno (I think Travel is part of the name for some reason). First PA needs to replace Super-6; then they can work on Keno etc. My earlier comment about PA being a conservative state may explain why PA rejected riverboat gambling.

One of the candidates for governor this fall in PA (Ed Rendell, former mayor of Philly) has said he supports the addition of Keno to the PA Lottery. He also favored riverboat gambling when he was mayor but could never get it passed.

There probably are a number of reasons. NY began double drawings 7 days a week in December, although sales of the Win-3 and Win-4 are up only slightly, if at all. Post-9/11 probably is a factor here. PA is considered a conservative state politically, which might also extend to what the lottery offers (PA does not have keno, either Quick Draw or Pick 10 ; the latter is drawn once per night instead of 158x daily). As PA Cash 5 is a jackpot game, I can't see it drawn 2x daily because the jackp... [ More ]

CASH Only,Do you know why PA doesn't have midday draws? I know during 1997 (I think) they did midday Daily Number and Big 4 drawings for the month of February as apart of a Anniversary celebration. I think they were probably just testing it out at the time. And since it didn't stick around I'm left to assume that it wasn't very popular. Oddly enough when I buy Daily Number tickets it still prints NITE TDN on the ticket. I think a midday Cash 5 would be cool, but then the jackpot probably wouldn... [ More ]
