I want to add that, if you were to hit Lucky for Life , you would have to notify the Washington State Lottery each time you change your address (or keep a PO box) or if for some reason the (quarterly?) check doesn't come. What if the company selling the annuity to the lottery goes bankrupt? If you die before the guarantee is over ($1 million?) your heir(s) would have to worry about making sure they receive checks until the Lottery's obligation is fulfilled, and possibly have to pay inheritanc... [ More ]

Lucky for Life , IMHO, has two major flaws. One is unavoidable in that while you get many sets of numbers per play, you can choose only ONE 4-number combination (the other sets are automatically quick-picked.) The other, which can, and SHOULD be changed (note that my handle is CASHOnly ) is that the 4/4 prize, under the rules of the game, CANNOT be paid in lump sum . I am _slightly_ more tolerable of lose for life prizes than of situations where you are paid in 20/25/26 etc annual installmen... [ More ]

I personally like lucky for life, play at least once a week. I buy 3 tickets with the same numbers on them because the rules state one person can get a maximum of $3000.00 a week for the rest of your life.

With MM coming to Washington state, I would like to see your lottery make two changes to your existing games: 1) Replace Quinto with a pick-5 ALL-NUMBER game (the playing card theme works much better with scratch games) and 2) scrap Lucky for Life (the $1000/wk-for-life grand prize also makes more sense in scratch-off games.) A pick-5 ALL-NUMBER game should be drawn more often than 2x/week in place of Quinto and LFL .

While neither MUSL nor its members have publicly announced the changes effective the first weekend of October, a news story mentioned that the new version of Powerball will be a 5/53 + 1/42 game (instead of 5/49 + 1/42), the annuity will be 30 payments (of course the cash option will be retained), and the minimum PowerPlay multiplier will be 2x. Full details should be available soon.
