If that book is from 1994, it was written at a time when most lotto games (including Powerball; no Big Game yet, let alone Mega Millions) were still annuity-only; the games that did have a cash option required the choice at the time of ticket purchase.

secret, that book fills in a lot of the questions. but it also can be improved upon. mr sanford has alot to say about advisory positions that you need to fill in order to insure your success. while i agree with him i also disagree. he tends to steer a person toward leaning on professionals while dismissing the notion that one should get to the point where you handle it YOURSELF. that should be your ultimate destination. you and as few as possible people handling your money.some arenas are u... [ More ]

Securities accounts, e.g. a trading account at Charles Schwab, are insured up to $7 million. My advice: trust no one. Absolutely no one. Get advice from several professionals, but manage your money yourself. If you dont know how, learn.

SECRET , first of all, don't ever say again : i probably won't . you never know. think a little more positive. thinking positive isn't a guarantee on anything in life, but it gets you in a place of possibilities. it just means that your eyes are open to more things and if something comes your way, you will be ready. when oppurtunity knocks, the negative person will dismiss it away and mis the what if's . thinking positive breeds preparation. sermon over (lol). i know without a doubt i cou... [ More ]

Obviously, you better take the LUMP SUM. As for what to do first, you should try to find out on the lottery website whether you should call the lottery HQ, or have the ticket validated at a retailer (if so, preferably a distance away from the store where you bought it, where you know the employees/owner, and at a time when there probably aren't many customers.) Before that you probably should get financial/legal advice etc.

I've never won the jackpot and probably never will. Everyone talks about what they would do or what should be done. But if it happened to YOU, and you scored the grand prize, would you be able to handle such a life change? How do you know which financial advisor is the best to go to? Many lottery winners who wound up losing their fortune blamed their financial advisors for their downfall. If someone wins, can that person go directly to the Lottery HQ to claim his/her prize, or does that pe... [ More ]
