Validated may (or may not) mean when the ticket is brought to a lottery agent, or to lottery HQ. Personally, I would avoid going to a lottery retailer to validate a jackpot ticket, and try to have it done at lottery HQ. Remember that NY, my home state, DOES NOT allow players to choose after they win (but nearby Connecticut allows the 60 days for Classic Lotto as well as Powerball).

Does validated mean when you go to the lottery headquarters to turn in the ticket? If so, can you give them the ticket and come back later to pick up the check once you have decided whether to choose cash or annuity

Secret: A. They won Powerball under the PREVIOUS format, when the annuity option was 26 payments. B. I'm not 100% sure, but the 60 days might start (for either ticket or both depending on the rules) when the ticket is VALIDATED instead of from the drawing date. I live in NY, which has _refused_ to adopt any such 60-day rule.

Two people won the September 14th powerball drawing but NO ONE has stepped forward Well, it's day 57, and those two winners only have THREE days to decide whether to take the lump sum or annuity They still have another four months to claim the prize, but if they don't come forward by Wednesday, they have to collect their payments in 30 annual installments
