smd: I'm neutral on Pick-3/4 games. However, adding an instant win option to the PA 3/4 games won't solve the problem of what to do about Super-6. Had PA decided to sell Hot Lotto , PA could still test single-state games (WINFALL; a return to WILD CARD LOTTO, etc) for when Hot Lotto runs its course. BTW, Hot Lotto sales noticeably increased when PB exceeded $100 million.

Don't get me wrong. I _like_ the PowerPlay option; but with a jackpot so high there's no need to play $2 per combination.

I agree with CASH Only. If you use the extra dollar to play powerplay your overall odds of having a winning ticket remains at 1:36, but you can double your winnings or better. However if you buy another ticket you odds of having a winning ticket changes to 1:18 and powerplay only counts if you win something.RJOh

I didn't win but as expected I matched the power ball for $3. I also matched 3 of 5 no PB for $7, so 42 chances will have costed me $32. That the cheapest shot I've ever had at a $200M jackpot, so I may try it again if I ever get the chance. I thought about doing the same thing with Megamillion, but 52 chances for $50 just don't sound as attractive. I'll probably run some simulations on lower jackpots and if I get lucky enough time, I may try it when the MM jackpot reaches $200M. RJOh... [ More ]

RJOh,When the pot is this big, if you have to money to do that I definitely agree with your plan. By buying the 42 powerballs you lower your odds of winning the jackpot to 2.9 Million. Alot better than 120 Million, especially since the pot is $216M/$117M Cash.
