smd: I think that's a GREAT idea! (I e-mail Charles Strutt of MUSL often. I'll pass along that suggestion.) I suppose it could be tried after Hot Lotto ends. As for the three scales you give, I think two annuity value jackpot games per state are enough. Of course, annuity value means the jackpot is advertised as an annuity, but the CASH VALUE in lump sum also is available.

CASH,Maybe MUSL should consider a WINFALL where it's capped at $10 or $15 Mil and 3 out of 6 could pay $100 or something (since more states would participate).I think most lottery players would be interested in being able to play a Mega Jackpot game, a mid-level game $10 to $20 Mil and a low-level game $1-5 Mil.

smd: I'd rather go for Hot Lotto first. Presumably it would be cheaper for PA to sell it, and get it going quicker. At the same time WINFALL plus other concepts (a new Wild Card Lotto ?) could be tested for when MUSL decides that Hot Lotto runs its course.

smd: I also read that Rendell wants midday (Pick 3/4) drawings. IMHO though replacing Super-6 should come next.

CASH,I do think PA is waiting for Rendell. Although the only thing Rendell will probably bring in is Keno. Keno is OK when I make the occasional trip to AC, but I'd much rather them focus on fun, inventive regular lottery games.

smd: Yes, MUSL had a Rolldown . There is a major difference between Rolldown and WINFALL. In Rolldown, all the prize money was distributed after each drawing. WINFALL will have a jackpot (don't know what the minimum will be) that is capped at $5 million. Why Rolldown (replaced by Hot Lotto ) failed is a good question. CASH,I like the idea of Winfall, but didn't MUSL have Rolldown before and it failed?I guess the major difference between MUSL Rolldown and Michigan Winfall is that it's possible to get $50 for matching 3 out of 6 on Michigan Winfall.I'd be all for PA ditching Super 6 and picking up Winfall, but I doubt they'd do that until seeing that it is a success in Michigan, so it probably wouldn't happen until next year.

I wonder if frequently-hit smaller jackpot games are good candidates for WINFALL clones. For instance, the New Jersey Pick-6 Lotto hasn't gone above $7 million since July.

smd: When the Georgia change game began in July, somebody did win over $30,000. MI had a $12,000+ prize when Change Play began. Lottery players in general want to be able to win on occasion, unless perhaps they make 4-digit straight bets. I knew the novelty of the GA and MI change games would be short-lived because a $10k-$30k prize won't make someone retire early or probably even work fewer hours, and that lottery players feel they need to win an occasional prize to stay interested in... I _believe_ WINFALL begins January 19, with the first drawing Wednesday, 1/22. Michigan Millions will have its final drawing Saturday 1/18. If nobody hits the final jackpot in Michigan Millions, the jackpot money will be carried into WINFALL. The excess jackpot money (over $5 million) would then be paid to all the lower tier winners for the initial WINFALL draw. **OT: I saw that a Change Play winner Thursday gets only $525.00

Bradly: I hope WINFALL puts pressure on Ohio to overhaul its Stupid Lotto - no more Kicker (MI dropped its Zinger a while ago) and for OH to use the same cash value for lump sum vs annuity winners. I'm sure OH will counter that its Lotto 6/49 starts at $4 million, whereas WINFALL will be capped at $5 million.

I just saw an in store ad of Michigan's new game. Tickets go on sale January 19th. It replaces Michigan Millions after that game had a life span of less than 2 years (or was is one) and seen only about 3 or 4 jackpot winners. The game hasn't been won since summer and it is only at 23 million. Well anyway they moved it back to 6/49. Same as the old Michigan Lotto.
