It donesn't seem like buying 2 tickets would improve your chances that much but look at the math. Say you have 1 ticket. Your odds are 1 in 135,000,000 or 1/135,000,000. If you buy two tickets your odds are 2 in 135,000,000 or 2/135,000,000. If you reduce that you do get 1/67,500,000. But if you look at it the other way there are 135,000,000 different combos in the game. If you buy two tickets there are still 134,999,998 combos left so how are you odds cut by so much. I will ask my math t... [ More ]

odds - man,i know that we have discussed this topic several times in here. you could probably search the archives (above buttons) and locate some of those threads. as for me, couldn't help you. i only have a high school education and i absoluetly stunk at math (still do). i do know this. buying two tickets give you two chances instead of one. in a game that involves odds of 135 million to 1, buying two tickets isn't really going to make that much of a mathematical difference. i am not sure how m... [ More ]

I would be most grateful if someone here with training in mathematics could answer the following question regarding odds involving the big lottery game -- e.g., powerball, etc.How do the odds of winning the big lottery game if one purchases 1 ticket versus 2 tickets where both tickets contain differnt numbers? II'm told that if the odds are, say, 1,000,000 to 1 with respect to a single ticket, that when a second ticket is purchased the odds of winning drop to 500,000 to 1. Based upon statistics... [ More ]
