Cash OnlyYou're right about matching 3 or 4 numbers-match 3 #'s odds:1 to 240, win $20-match 4 #'s odds: 1 to 11,059, win $1000. Not that good, but considering the lottery choices here in Wash. you can play for a $million prize at decent odds.I checked our new lottery game, that replaced the 6/49. Its named Lotto Plus, I incorrectly stated the odds: 1 to 30 million- correct odds: 1 to 11 million. The 6/49 game odds: 1 to 7 million.I don't care for High odds games such as MM, odds: 1 to 135 milli... [ More ]

To Cash OnlyIf the Quinto game was changed to a 5/39 game, the odds of winning the jackpot would be 1:575,757 and no State would be dumb enough to offer even a $1/2M jackpot with those odds. If you are e-mailing state lottery commissions with those kinds of ideas, don't expect any replies. RJOh

Cotti: Quinto has the LONGEST odds of any pick-5 game. If Quinto were to be replaced with an all-number game, the number pool almost certainly would be 39 or less. A new pick-5 most likely would give winners a better return for matching 3 or 4 numbers.

I'm just filling out play slips for Quinto's sat. nite draw.$1.9 million cashpot, odds : 1 to 2.6 million. If the state lottocommission were to change Quinto's format, I feel they would also change the structure of the game. Just like lotteries everywhere that have undergone changes, the lottery commission would most likely make the game harder to win. If person were to change the 5/52 game, based on a deck of playing cards, to #'s, Numbers 1-52, you could enter them in your software program, t... [ More ]

Everett: When lottery players visit different states/provinces, they expect the games to be similar to those of where they live. People EXPECT lotto games to have NUMBERS only. There have been a handful of lotto games where the winning combinations were playing cards instead of numbers, and, AFAIK all have flopped, with the exception of QUINTO. You mentioned CA Daily Derby , which is a unique game, but IMHO it is a more thought-out game than QUINTO. Of course, CA is a big horse-racing state. *P... [ More ]

Todd,Thank you for your response. Scratch-offs cannot be predicted, Todd, at least I would not try it. A once a day or twice a day game where many people bet on the same outcome is certainly different. Scratch-offs like Bar pull-tabs really, to me are a cheap copy of Slot machines without going to a casino. A completely different ball game.It is certainly fun to predict lottery games without numbers, The Daily Derby in CA is another one of those. There they are horse names (kind of mix they

Cash,I just voted in your poll. I would like mention another position about Quinto. I would like show some reasoning pro-Quinto here. From the probability standpoint whatever is printed on the 52 balls does obviously not matter. Whether they are cards, girls names, boys names, famous Fifties Rockabilly Stars, Car Brands, Numbers or whatever does not have any impact on the outcome. We know though the general problem with numbers. One of the first Numbers Lottery games still used in many countries

John: I was thinking of pick-5 LOTTO games. (Then again, there are/have been pick-4 games with a lotto-type format.) Traditional pick-4 games are less popular than pick-3s; besides, pick-5 straight wins, if they ever were to happen, would automatically have federal, etc withholding.

Cash,What I would like to see is a pick 5 game similiar to the pick four game only with the pick five game played with the digits from 0 thru 9.With this game you will hit exact order and box order with the payout being ten times greater than the pick four.I will take $50,000.00 cash on an exact hit anyday. The box payouts would not be that paltry either.I had considered posting this suggestion on the S.C. message board to see what they would say. These fantasy five and pick five games h... [ More ]

Washington state QUINTO began in 1990. It's played like other pick-5 games with one major exception: players choose five CARDS from the 52-card standard playing deck instead of numbers from 1-through-X (quick picks of course available.) One play for $1; first prize is an ALL-CASH jackpot. Similar games have been failures; New Jersey 5-Card Lotto actually preceded QUINTO; the Hoosier Lottery started such a game a couple years ago. Pennsylvania had a 5/26 Hearts Diamonds that was QUICK-PICK only... [ More ]
