The cash option would probably be better anyway. If I ever won it, I'd still take the cash. You'll never know.... you might not live 30 more years after you validate that winning ticket.

Secret:AFAIK, when somebody hits NY Lotto, the Lottery calls seven investment companies; the low bidder gets to sell the annuity to the Lottery. The NY Lottery DOES NOT lowball the cash option amount to encourage players to choose annuity. PA (Super-6) and Colorado (Lotto) probably do, however. The only true beneficiary of annuities paid as lottery winnings are the companies SELLING the annuities-they wouldn't be involved if they didn't believe they could profit.

CASH OnlyDid you say that someone has to win it before they can even know what the cash amount is? Did any NY lotto winner take the annuity to avoid such a low cash option? And does the NY lottery make the cash option low on purpose to get people to turn to the annuity option? After all, if you choose annuity in any lottery, whatever extra money the lottery makes on the investment after they pay you the annual installments goes back to them. So you could say that the lottery is trying to tak... [ More ]

Secret:I may have mentioned that DC is joining Hot Lotto this summer.I don't know why 2by2 is a MULTI-state game, since the $20,000 top prize does not roll over . Maybe 2by2 should be a Kansas-only game, with Nebraska selling Hot Lotto instead.

Secret:You're better off in Nebraska. While a $43 million jackpot is tempting, remember that the prize return for NY Lotto is the WORST in the nation. As for the cash option amount, NY Lotto does not make it known unless someone wins, and they chose cash. Of course, NY requires the cash option to be exercised when you PLAY, even for Mega Millions.PS-did you ever try Hot Lotto

CASH OnlyI have a question for you. I looked at the New York Lottery website, and it didn't display a cash option amount. I live in Nebraska, so, of course, I don't play The NY Lotto. But I just had to ask why they wouldn't show it if the jackpot is $43 million, especially since the FL Lotto gives out a cash option.
