RJ:The double matrix allows lotteries to set jackpot odds AND overall chance of winning simultaneously, using the same number of prize levels (nine). The upper field of numbers helps determine the jackpot odds, while the bottom field is used to arrive at the overall prize odds.

While those figures might inditcate that Powerball returns $173 and Megamillions return $182 per $1000 in sales on lower prize levels they also indicate that Powerball ruturn $112 compared to Megamillions $82 for match 3's and lower. It's likely that the aveage lottery player that wins $10 or less is going to spend it all on the next drawings and if that is true the Powerball only give up $61 compared to Megamillions $100 per $1000 in sale per rollover which help the jackpot grow faster. RJ: The higher heturn for the non-jackpot tiers in MM cuts down on the jackpot potential. For every $1000 bet in MM, $182 is returned in the eight lower prize levels, vs $173 in MM.

Todd:I didn't try to figure out the new jackpot odds, or how much of the prize money would go into the eight lower tiers under my plan.I suppose a quarter-million for 5/5 might work, but, you need a high percentage in the jackpot pool in ensure large rollovers.

MM:I doubt Ohio would pull out of MM, unless MUSL guaranteed they would be let into Powerball.

I see in the Big Game Lottery news that Ohio is having second thoughts about Mega Millions because of it's slow growing and small jackpots. Which is about the way I feel as a player. No wonder the new lottery States are going for Powerball.

MM:I'd like to see more Powerball states sell Hot Lotto , which is played the same as PB but with fewer numbers.So far only six states play Hot Lotto , although the DC Lottery is scheduled to join this summer.

The McDonalds at the rest stops on the NE thruway sell Lottery tickets. When it really gets big the CT lottery home page will give you directions to sites that aren't to crowded.
