After reading the articles today about the fact that Texas will join only one multi-state lottery I'm even more sure that it will be Powerball. Mega-Millions said they didn't like the idea and would not want to participate.

O-man: Yes I do. They actually put out a number of state-specific editions (in NY you either paid 50c for one, or free with a $5 lottery purchase.) That lasted only a few months. Lotto World probably is history.

How interesting, it now seems, according to the news on the BGL.com home page today, that Texas may join both PB and MM. Seems like a good idea for the players who would be able to avail themselves of both great jackpots without going out of the state.

orange:Part of me wants Texas in MUSL so they would be eligible to join (presumably a modified) Hot Lotto . But considering the population bases of each lottery with PB or MM, and Texas' neighbors, I expect TX to sell MM.

Personally, I think TX will go with Mega Millions, partly because it's hundreds of miles from any other Mega Millions state, and partly because Mega Millions is played in heavier-populated states.

Texas will probably go with Powerball. That is my educated guess.It doesn't matter which one they choose because Gov. Perry signed legislation basically saying the Texas Lottery Commission can adopt whatever games they choose and make any rule changes they deem necessary WITHOUT public input. Public hearings on June 30th will be a farce and the public here in Texas can be damned for all the Legislature cares.
