Jimmy:North Dakota is planning to offer HL when or soon after its lottery starts early next year. 2by2 probably is the weaker game.BTW, C4L was misleadingly named, since the top prize was not cash , but $1000/wk for life. That format hasn't caught on.

I've got bad news. Hot Lotto is probably only temporary, like Daily Millions ,Cash 4 Life (two of my favorites) ,and Rolldown. It's sort of in the vain of small-scale PB-style games like Florida Mega Money Texas 2-Step. My prediction is it'll be out by late next year at the most. But, it's no guarantee, it might be here to stay. 2by2 might be the temporary game.

With ND agreeing to sell Hot Lotto, I'd like to see the top field go to 40 numbers (5/40 + 1/19), keeping the eight lower-tier prizes as is, and lengthening the annuity to 30 payments, so that 100k jackpot rolls are easier to achieve. (The overall odds of winning would be so SLIGHTLY longer, you'd need a microscope.)Now we have to get Maine (after they join MUSL), DC, Delaware, PA, and RI to sell it.Of course, Connecticut would be a big help, but their 6/44 IS a very good game. Greg:You have a very good argument. I just think that AT LEAST ONE other lottery should have signed onto Hot Lotto after it started.I think the future of Hot Lotto depends mostly on whether North Dakota wants it (as ND will be limited to multi-state games).

Hi Cash,I respectfully disagree. In my mind there can be absolutely NO justification for INCREASING the number field, ANY number field. Sacrificing odds for an increased jackpot only enriches the states who do the lottery. It does NOTHING for the player. I liken the increased jackpot to a carrot on a string-- you can see it, you can reach for it, but you can't grab it and eat it-- it's always something that is ahead of you

I've become increasing convinced that for MUSL Hot Lotto to attract more Powerball members (the HL game started in April 2002), there should be higher jackpot potential.I would consider the following:**Add four numbers in the first drum (to 43) but keep the number of Hot Balls at 19 (longer jackpot odds, but little change in OVERALL odds of winning);**no changes to lower tier prizes;**lengthen the annuity from 25 payments to 30.This presumably would allow a starting $1 million jackpot by $10...
