Mr Steel,I think the resterant owner is fooling with you and your money. Never take the advice of someone who don't use the advice themselves. If that advice was any good, the resterant owner would be playing a $10 card himself. It cost him nothing to give bad advice and it will cost you $10 if you take it. Sometimes when I get 5 quick picks I get asked if I want them all on the same ticket or seperate. So, there are people who are playing $5 but going with the logic of buying 1 ticket is all it takes. Anyone have an opinion on this

Last evening I participated in Todd's Floridia challenge for LottoCheatah to post 5 lines for the lottery drawing, I posted 7 lines but all six numbers hit in the first 5 lines and I matched 3 on the first line. I have notice that many times when I play more than 10 lines for a drawing, if I hit anything worth a payout, it happen in the first ten and many times in the first 5. It could be that 5 lines are almost(odds wise) as good as 100 lines and playing more lines doesn't increase your chanc... [ More ]

Just read that BOTH the Pennsylvania and Missouri Powerball tickets sharing the July 9 jackpot were also $5 tickets. I fully understand that the $5 denomination is just a very common way to purchase lotto tickets, and it is purely coincidental that the $5 figure keeps re-appearing in press releases. Nevertheless, I do find it fascinating that so many of the higher-end lotto prizes are being claimed with this quantity of number sets being played

With Ohio649P jackpot being $31M, I might have to take a new look at wheeling. I was looking though my collections of wheels and I found two wheels for 49 numbers with a guarantee of 3 if 6 numbers are among the 49 and they are 163 and 168 lines long. I checked the wheel numbers without any exchange and they have matched 4 the last 3 draws with one 4+. A match 4 pays $100 and a 4+ pay $500 so for the last 3 draws I would have been ahead. Personally, I am looking at strategy. I have spent too much money on sytems that are only useful as a database or tracking numbers. Wheeling takes too much money and might not be bad if you won more than occasionally. I am tired of wasting money. I have always believed you make your own luck. So, I am definitely looking for a better way.

you can never really factor out luck... I'm still learning the system part of it, dventually I can get into the wheels, but that will have to wait until I win enough of their money to play it with...

I believe you can improve your odds, but the percentage of improvement is minimal....take the first column number in megamillion, play numbers one through sdventeen and you have a 90 % chance of being right as my tracking sheet goes. now play numbers 39 through 52 on the fifth column and you have a 82% chance of being right on that column. Now try to work the first and last column into a winning combination and your odds of picking them both right is minimal....you have just improved your chanc... [ More ]

Short of playing more lines, I haven't found a way to better the odds. I try to avoid repeating small combinations. When you wheel numbers, this can't be avoided, but if all the winning numbers are in the wheel, it will work to your advantage. I prefer not to wheel a small group of numbers but rather play all the numbers and limit the amount by not repeating combinations and playing within parameters of previous winners. You know...I realized after reading the vote options that Ken is right. Once you have a good working set of numbers, it takes a wheel to turn them into good sets of tickets. Random pesimits willargue that the odds are the same, no matter what. But the player must find a way to increase his likely hood of a win. Donna:I think it's probably all of the above... The wheel I think improves your odds in winning but you have to have a pretty good idea of what #'s are going to hit This is done by tracking the #'s either by a Chart or something you're comfortable with.Strategy certainly plays a big roll also.Ken
