equifax:what is your opinion: do you think lottery machines are programed? they can control the outcome, I believe that.also I heard from another person, same as you said that a retail store can check the win on a scratch tic without rubbing off the silver coating. and cash the tickest themselvs/with friend and family.I also believ that the states know that, but because the big money kickback to the states, its covered up. like other sources of gambling.

Teufellj,One additional point: I am in total agreement with you when it comes to computerized drawings. I absolutely hate the fact that several states have done away with ping-pong machines and have gone to random computer selections. In my view, it is far too easy to manipulate a computer program. The only way to ensure the validity of the draw would be to display the program code before each drawing, which is obviously never going to happen.

No, I don't believe ball machines are programmed, especially those that use the gravity method, such as Mega Millions. Those that use the air method could be manipulated by weighing down certain balls, but I think there are enough safeguards that that will not occur. (Yes, I know the story about how it happened once in the past by insiders.)I am totally not on board with those who have a conspiracy theory about the state lotteries.

luckycat, I totally agree. That is why I never play slot machines. They program the exact payout ratio they wish to achieve - which is not what I'd call random. If slot machines were totally random, then their odds (payout ratio) would be based on the number of symbols on the wheel, and the number of wheels (much like a Pick 3- or Pick 4-style game). They would never be able to increase or decrease the payout ratio.Yet they are the casino's biggest moneymaker. It is similar to scratch-off games... [ More ]

yes todd thats exactly what I am sayingthey are 2 dif words meaning differnt as to and attached to PROGRAMED.I believe that the machines producing the balls are programed in some way.even a small dot on the ball can change it.like a bullet that goes thru a short or long chamber can make a diff as to how far it goes and can be straigt or crooked.that why you hear at the casinos LOTTERY MACHINES(SLOT MACHINE) refered to as a lottery machine by staff. PROGRAMED> a random set of numbersRNG... [ More ]

Here's a problem in the lotto world: improper defining of terms. I personally ran into this problem as I bought a SP system that was advertised as for the *Lotto* and upon recieving the product it was for a pick3-4 system. I had asssumed *Lotto* ment pick-5-6. I think *lotto* and *lottery* are used interchangeably. For clarity's sake we should say pick-6 or pick-3 etc....My official lotto *pet peeve*.
