it covers $100,000 per FINANCIAL INSTITUTION... you could have 5 accounts in the same bank and still only get 100k in the dvent of disaster...find out al the details here...http://www.fdic.gov

FDIC covers per account. HOWEVER, they do not say you will get your money immediately or in one lump in dvent of the failure of the bank,. You can be given a small amount and the next person in line, so to speak, will be given a small amount and then you go to the rear of the line and on in on until you get the $100,000. I certainly hope she is not planning on keeping all of her money in just one bank... If the president of the bank goes out of business ... FDIC only covers $100,000 of that...
