Thanks everybody for all the encouragement and no apology needed Jim695.Not sure if you all might have read where I've posted this before, but the biggest scream I could have made would have been when I picked out a set of numbers and was one away with every number except the PowerBall and could have won five hundred thousand. I guess it helped cushion the blow a little that I didn't play that set at all. Grrrrrrrrrr. Since, I've tossed my notes on how I did it. Another Grrrrrrrrrr!Recently,... [ More ]

i know the feeling. i played the same set of numbers for every draw for almost a year before changing them last halloween...end of october i picked new numbers. if i had played them just three more draws instead of changing them they would have hit $5K powerball. instead i won a big 0. zilch. oh, well...i posted a couple times in november on this horrible timing decision i made and since then i've gotten over it. nevertheless, i still have trouble deciding when to discontinue playing a longtime... [ More ]

OpenMinded:Don't be offended; just a little levity to ease the tension. I agree with Mayan27; your post gave me a chuckle when I read it, because it has happened to me and, probably, to most of the people here. My message was an admittedly poor attempt at humor, and I'm sorry if I offended you.I really can empathize, believe me. If I had a nickel for every time I was one digit off, I'd have... well, I'd have several nickels, but the point remains that coming close doesn't get us any money, not e... [ More ]

OpenMinded,That sounds similar to the most of the powerball sheets I have for excel... I skip the pencil part and keep it all on the spreadsheet... using formatting and the line drawing tool to help... backtesting is quick in excel, no good results yet, only matches after the fact... keep at it, you never know...The thing that is frustrating about being off by one or two is if you first narrow down the positions by ranges, but then pick the wrong number out of ranges that include the right numbe... [ More ]

Wow. That's really wierd, because the same thing happened to me! If only I had chosen the same numbers that came up in the drawing, I'd have won the jackpot. It's spooky, I know, but the same thing happens to me almost every draw. But seriously, folks...Jim

DreamLotto,I do a sort of mathmatical backtesting. I don't use any programs. I print the numbers out from an Excel spreadsheet, grab a pencil and start counting in all sort of crazy ways to see if I notice a pattern. Sometimes, I incorporate adding and subtracting, depending on what I think the position calls for at the moment. This is one fun thing that I like to do. Suppose the number is 36. I would flip the 6 and make it 39. So then I would count down that column 39,40, 41 and so on. I o... [ More ]
