Well I got a reply, hard to believe this is what you get from the only contact on the Mass lottery web site . . . read from the bottom up. I think Todd's doing it right. A pick 4 game is a pick 4 game and a pick 3 game is a pick 3 game. Without making his programming any more difficult than it is, I think the standard payoffs for those games in 90% of the country's draws is sufficient. No parimutuels in the pick 3 and 4 because it would probably equal out in the long run and make Todd's job harder than it is.KISS...Keep it simple. I Remembered another state last night after posting the message.Rhode Island also plays their three game from the four game numbers drawn like mass.It can get confusing with this four game stuff like Todd said.

i know what you really mean bob.although you may win more times on pick3 with a perfect patternyou still have to choose last number from 0-9 for pick4 and this would cost ten times more than pick3.Front Pair: Match the first two digits in exact order.Back Pair: Match the last two digits in exact order.Front Three: Match the first three digits in exact order.Back Three: Match the last three digits in exact orderthose types of play can make you win $ if todd could add those into the program.

Just for the heck of it, I wrote the webmaster (only contact address for the Massachusetts lottery web site) and asked if the lottery players of Massachusetts consider there to be an independent Pick-3 game or it's just a side bet of the Pick-4. If there's a reply I'll post it.For the record, I'm against listing all the possible side bets and odd ball stuff states might offer to be different. BobP

Yes, the confusion of all the different ways to play and bet per state is what I'm trying to avoid. I am attempting to make everything as simple and straight-forward as possible, so that useful comparisons can be made between the states.For example, if I were to calculate the front 3 and back 3 of the Mass Numbers game, in addition to the straight and box Pick 4 aspect of the same game, then I would also have to account for the fact that you'd have to PAY that much to bet those four different w... Bob:Multi-state games, including the tri-state games, are counted as one game only. You don't win once for each state. However, Iowa and Illinois, even though they use the same numbers, are not multi-state games, and therefore are treated as different games. If you choose to bet both you have the ability to win double, but you also have the ability to lose double.I have decided to treat Massachusetts as a Pick 4 game only. This was discussed at length in another thread.

Iowa and Illinois share the Pick-3/4 drawings so a win in one is a win in both.If I get credit for a win in Iowa and a win in Illinois, then Lucky should get credit for his three state wins for the Tri-state games since he won in Maine, N.H. and Vermont.
