I always get at least one Powerball or Mega Millions ticket per drawing, no matter what (I don't play both multi-state lottery games at once though - I play whichever one has the larger jackpot; if they're both at their starting $10 million, then I play Powerball because I live in Iowa). Whenever the jackpot is at least $100 million, I buy two tickets per drawing. If the jackpot is at least $250 million (only happened once since I started playing regularly), then I buy three tickets per drawi... [ More ]

I purchase $5.00 -- and choosing Power Play -- that's $10.00, consistently. I used to play higher amounts, but I came to my senses because it only takes one set of numbers to win. Now, having said that, 2 sets are my regular numbers: do or die; the other 3 sets are Quick Picks.P.S. Doesn't it just blow your mind when a person can walk in, plunk down $1.00, and hit a jackpot? Remember, New York City's lottery motto (it used to be that when I left in 1997): all you need is a dollar and a dream!d... [ More ]

Now, I purchase $5.00 and powerplay, making it $10.00. I used to do $10.00 and powerplay, making it $20.00. Yes, I have gone higher: $20.00 and powerplay, making it $40.00 -- if there is a $100 million dollar lottery.Quite frankly, I do give a damn! I just need one ticket and one line: any one of the five lines -- to win -- not ten or twenty tickets. Here again, there is no guarantee the more tickets I purchase, the higher changes I will win. I have watched people purchase JUST ONE TICKET

I seldom buy less tickets when the jackpot is low because I've never won a jackpot and 2nd prize is usually the same regardless of the jackpot size and I've always been happy when I've won that prize. If 2nd prize is not worth playing for while hoping to win the jackpot, then it not worth playing at all. 10-20 lines should be enough to cover most of the numbers and give you a fair chance to win in any lottery.RJOh

I picked 1-9 actually I usually only buy 6 dollars worth. 5 tickets I pick the numbers to play and one qp. When it goes over 200 mil i play 11 dollars worth of tickets 10 tickets i pick the numbers and 1 QPI have gotten into lottery pools before when the pot went to 100 mil but not any more. After reading the horror stories and people fighting over the winnings it's not worth it. Also with 10 people putting up 5 dollars each and if we were to win after taxes here in Maryland you might walk away... [ More ]

Hi DoctorEw220,I run a lottery club and we always buy a minimum of 50 tickets no matter what size the of the jackpot is. But when it climbs over $100 Million then many of the members, including myself, but extra shares. So my answer is from the range of 50 to 150 tickets. Thanks,JohnLA
