The new Canadian Lotto 649 sales are doing well and maybe too well. It apears like Lotto 649 is taking sales away from the Canadian Super 7 lottery. The sales for the Super 7 draw on June 18 were only 6.2 million tickets. This was the lowest sales since the Nov 28, 2003 Super 7 draw. Albeit, the Super 7 jackpot was only $2.5 million and the Lotto 649 jackpot is now always $4 million or higher.Good luck,Jake

Two minor corrections: #1. from KarnacHave to make this correction before this appears in the media. The OLGC paid out $31,319,211.80. I was out by about 127.00 which is simply lunch money at the OLGC. These figures are from the Sympatico website. The masses are listening.... a Wednesday boycott would really shock and awe the shirts at the OLGC. Sales customarily drop during the summer and summer arrives officially next Monday. I wish I was a fly on the wall in that office tomorrow morning. I re... [ More ]

Something else to consider, for those who are interested. If I read the figures correctly then 51.4% of draws revenue goes to the prizes. Normally the sales for each draw would generate about $10-12M with the starting Jackpot of $2M. So one can see that normal take for the Lotto Corp used to be about $5-6M, higher when Jackpots rolled over, much higher for bonus draws such as the $25M yesterday. How much did they take in? Just over $2M for a $25M bonus draw

I agree with Jake, sales speak louder than any group because the job of lottery commissions is to sell tickets. Years ago, when the religious right could not convince Ohio to get rid of their biggest lottery game, they convince them to limit the payout to $20M per winning ticket regardless of the jackpot size. The State tried it for about six months until the decline of ticket sales forced them to go back to the original format. They never recovered from that mistake because my of the player... [ More ]

Shlep,I do not want to discourage your campaign to complain about the new price, but I think that the only thing the lottery corporations will pay attention to is sales. If sales go down, then they will get rid of or change the $2 ticket price. If sales go up or stay level, then nothing will change. Sales speak louder than complaints. This is why the original 649 game was changed. Sales were going down year after year. They had to do something. One option was to reduce the guaranteed minimum jac... [ More ]
