I've found the positonal approach one of my best predictive tools. Rather than looking from a pure mathematical approach and using it as a sole criteria to conform to, I work with the actual history. This because, I found the actual numbers are not following the traditional bell curve very well. That's not to dismiss the pure mathematical approach, but to use it with measure. That measure being the amount of positive results it appears to be yeilding for you. Although, like every one else here,... [ More ]

JKingWhen I first got involved some two and a half years ago my first approach was to consider things from a position point of view.I abandoned it because I considered numerical order should have no importance in determining things - it is only one of the billions of orders possible in say a 6/49 Lotto. Fine for presentation though. The other problem as I saw it was the occurrence in the position order with overlaps to some of the other positions was just too contrived. In the way I approach it th... [ More ]

JKING -Don't know - I just calculate and post the information as part of a project suggested by another Lottery Post member late last year and I have the ability and available web space on my site to do so. I have the feeling that this, combined with information available on sums charts, can help someone with the selection numbers for play which may not necessarily point toward a jackpot win but can increase the possibility and probability of winning lower-tier prizes. When both pages are comple... [ More ]

I assume most people are using the charts you've so graciously forwarded to me for comparisons to what is actually occurring. Then calculating the variance to the mathematical model. When the calculations are done and you've compared it to the numbers/totals that were actually picked, do the numbers show that the ones that fall below expected values come up consistenty more than others. I guess I'm asking if you've found any practical/useful correlations by using this technique? Like I said, I'm... [ More ]

Web site where these and all other charts can be found in a hard-to-copy format:http://www.johnph77.com/math/ls.htmlBe advised that this page is extremely large - almost 3MB - and very slow to load. It takes minutes on a dial-up connection. Position frequency charts for all games from 2/11 to 7/100 will dventually be posted on this page - it's about 65% complete now and has almost all of the more popular games already included. Sum charts will follow.gljohn

Thanks John, I'm still digesting it, but, I can already tell it will be very useful. You wouldn't happen to have the equivalent chart for 6/49, so that I don't have to go through all the programming to generate it. I would greatly appreciate it.

JKING -In all possible draws in a 5/39 game (575,757 - the total at the bottom of each column) after sorting in numerical order it is possible for the number 1 to fall only in the #1 position and that will occur 73,815 times. The same applies to the number 37 in only the #5 position. The number 20 will appear in the #1 and #5 position (the lowest or highest number in that particular draw) 3,876 times, the #2 and the #4 position 18,411 times and the #3 position 29,241 times.

Hi John, Thanks for responding!! I'm a little confused, your grid is impressive with all the large numbers, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Help me with what your comparing and what your getting out of it. I think it's similular to something I've run before, but am not quite sure.
