if that were the case, powerball jackpot could never exceed $63,500,000... 50% of the 127,000,000:1 odds.... but on the flip side, 5+0 would pay over a million

The pick 3 is the best game in the lottery, hands down. It pays you 50% of your odds back and you can play it so you don't get taxed. The jackpot games and scratch off tickets are the worst bets in the lottery world when you compare the odds-to-payoff ratios. The pick 3 is still a ripoff (with a 50% house 'take') but it sure beats the odds of the others. Look at the back of your payslips (for jackpot games) or scratch-off tickets to get the odds and compare your possible investment return on... [ More ]

The format used in WA has not taken off nationwide (look at the MUSL Annuity4Life ).

Washington's has better odds to win a prize, and you get more than one set of numbers. They may be for different prize categories, but I'd still take that over PA's game.

Both games are $2 per play; PA is a straight lotto format except for the $10 instant loser prize; WA is played like the late New Jersey Lotzee .
