Six in GA said no
Six men and women in GA, elected individuals serving the best needs of their constituents, have voted 'No' to HB301 which amends existing laws regarding dog fighting. Coincidentally, HB301 had 6 sponsors.
To paraphrase one gentleman from Macon, dog fighting is such a big part of black communities in Georgia that the new penalties proposed would be excessive. After all, there are already apparently 60,000 GA residents in pris...

Tips to make Firefox download pages quicker
I was experiencing some bad Firefox performance this evening, so I did some research into how to speed things up. I'll document my findings here, so hopefully it can help a few other people out too.
Keep in mind that these tips are useful only if you have some kind of broadband access -- cable, satellite, DSL, place of employment, etc. I would not use this for dial-up users.
Also, my goal with this is to increase performance, and these settings work great for me.&nbs...

Toilet Seat Sign of the Times?
I just watched a short video online of the very first time a toilet seat was shown on TV. It was on the show Leave it to Beaver when Beaver Wally bought a pet baby alligator and needed a place to keep it. They were allowed to show only the top of the toilet (not the seat) with the tank cover removed. I always knew that couples weren't allowed to sleep in the same bed, but I never realized that bathroom scenes were taboo.
Well times cert...

In The Wrong Company
It Is Better To Be Alone, Than In The Wrong Company.
Tell me who your best friends are, and I will tell you who you are.
If you run with wolves, you will learn how to howl. But, if you associate with eagles, you will learn how to soar to great heights.
A mirror reflects a man's or a woman's face, but what they are really like is shown by the kind of friends they choose.
The simple but true fa...

Rebuilding California With Arnold
Dear Fellow-Californians,
Do you remember that time, some 3 years ago, when we went through that long and tedious process of recalling the previous governor, and reasons why we did that?
Do you remember the terrible economic conditions we had that led to this historic recall?
Our state was more than $27 BILLION IN DEBT, workers' compensation rates were rising dramatically, businesses were leaving California, and our vehicle tax had just tripled - just t...

winter heating bills should be lower this year
WASHINGTON (Sept. 28) - Natural gas producers predicted Thursday that consumers will see lower prices this winter because there's plenty of natural gas already in storage and more is being produced.
The Natural Gas Supply Association said in a report that there are record supplies of the fuel in storage, well above normal levels as the winter heating season approaches. It said that wholesale prices already have been declining significantly....

Interesting poll about Iraq war from within
Interesting poll of 1150 Iraqis and a State Department poll. Both polls would seem to be accurate assessments of the situation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This poll, done for University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes, found:
Almost four in five Iraqis say the U.S. military force in Iraq provokes more violence than it prevents...
