Yet Another "signing statement"
President Bush continues to show flagrant disregard for our constitution and the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches of our government. He is circumventing the veto process with his signing statements. Thus he is saying, OK, this is the law but I can interpret this law as I see fit. There should be no signing statements on legislative bills presented to the president. It should either be signed or vetoed. With his 700+...

Kerry dissing troops Again
Another troop slam from someone who made it out of Nam with a band aid scratch then lied to congress. I read he sued the Swiftboat Vets, causing them to spend thousands in attorney and court fees to defend themselves, then withdrew the suit as it came time for trial because he didn't want the truth to come out in court. If Kerry was telling the truth what did he care if it went to trial???????????...

Good morning, America
Time to wake up folks. Something is not right with this picture. Our president is hovering around the 40% approval range in his own country depending on the latest series of tough talk on terror speeches aimed at keeping GOP members in office this November. Before that, he was at the 35% approval rating from his own countrymen. A foreign adversary can deride him and be applauded at a UN speech? 65% of the American public and 75% of the international c...

Living in interesting times
I don't usually read much news, but Konane's blog title about Rangel saying all Americans are insulted when someone says uglies about the prez caused me to go searching to see. Evidently there's a body of concern that if the president isn't the devil, and someone says he is, he'll become the devil. That's the only reason I can think of anyone would care what some guy wossname, prez of Venezuela, says about wossname, prez of the US. I personally don't feel insulted by what Ch...

What we need is more 'common sense'
I agree. The question is what brand of common sense we choose to adopt. One trait we humans all share is the unquestionable fact that we have common sense. We're able to spot the lack of it in others whenever it's out of sinc with our own, which frequently happens. Among other things, it seems to me common sense ought to be manifested in personal and public choices about what's worth getting excited about, being afraid of, and what is not. For instance, I read so...

Revisionism revisited today
From the Powerline guys this morning. Dr. Goebbels, call your office In an obscene attempt to obtain political mileage, the Democrats are claiming that President Bush is responsible for the outbreak of war in the Middle East. Howard Dean claims that the war would not have occurred if the Democrats had been in power because the Dems would have worked the past six years to prevent it. And...
