Did anybody notice Powerball came up 5 million short at draw time? $290.4 Million ($295 Million initially advertised), an increase of 18 million from prior draw.

A lot of players are unhappy with the $5 tickets to the point like they are acting likely already have the amount of the prize, I know I don't so will throw $5 at it. Where are they putting the additional unexpected $2M in sales? They're putting it in the same places as every other $5 in sales. They skim half off the top and the rest goes into the prize pools. The ads are only for estimated jackpots, and higher sales increase it. It's interesting the estimated sales for mm tonight were $36,789,000 but the actual sales were $38,515,850. That's almost $2M more than expected but there was no change in the jackpot or cash amount or the expected next jackpot. Where are they putting the additional unexpected $2M in sales? I'm not sure how much they keep and how much goes to the jackpot. Is it half? Is that not enough to show an increase?

Well folks.......should there be a rollover of the Measly Millions tonight from the advertised jackpot of $400 Million Annuity/$185.8 Million CASH , any guesses as to the next dollar amount it goes to ? I did not see anything posted on the TX website for calculations as of this time so I am going with $18 Million for the rollover increase. Good luck to all who are participating in tonights draw.

The Mega Millions jackpot has increased by $19 million to $400 million after 22 consecutive rolls. A further reduction in interest rates has resulted in a smaller than expected increase in the jackpot. The 22 roll record is almost twice as large at $785 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot has increased by $23 million to $381 million after 21 consecutive rolls. This is a surprisingly small increase given the Powerball jackpot was won recently and is only $33 million. This is caused in part to a lowering of interest rates.

I don't think the jackpot estimate will increase before the drawing. I expect the Labor Day holiday to slow down sales as many people travel. If it rolls tonight then expect a buying frenzy to continue Wednesday.

I'm sure the jackpot frenzy will adjust it a bit but it will be interesting to see how it plays out! I'm pretty sure that even the people at PB aren't all that sure exactly how things could go. Right now they're forecasting a $100 million increase, but since last night finished at 1.03 billion that means their first estimate for Monday is really 1.13.
