After ten MM jackpot increases of $10 million dollars the jackpot went from$150 million to $166 million to $182 million dollars, another $16 million dollar increase, so if it's not won on Tuesday will it go to $198 million?

Lottery sales for the big national games are down. This is probably the main reason the Mega Millions game was recently changed. Even on my worst days I'm not nearly stupid enough to think they wouldn't have tried messing with the game even if sales were still what they were 3 to 5 years ago, but the change was definitely an attempt to increase sales. Looks like there is greed on both ends of mega millions, the pots are not rising like they said they would. Charging $5.00 a draw will probably keep the new change going a while. You took some of the excitement away with the price increase pricing a lot of people out of course you knew that.

The Mega Millions jackpot increased by the minimum $10 million to $140 million. It is estimated the current jackpot is under funded from sales by about $0.3 million. This will be the last minimum $10 million jackpot increase. Going forward, the jackpot will be fully funded by sales. Nonetheless, there is no possibility for the Mega Millions jackpot to catch up to the Powerball jackpot. The Powerball jackpot is clearly winning this race.

We are also skipping Mega Millions this week. Waiting for the jackpot to get a lot bigger. At least bigger than Powerball. My reasons are very different than MM's reasons, but I'm hoping that we'll see a ridiculously large jackpot in 3 months or so. By that time PB will either have been won or be well beyond the current record. The Mega Millions jackpot is growing slower than last time because it is being over shadowed by the much larger Powerball jackpot. And/or more of the people who aren't addicted are sitting it out for more general reasons about MM itself. The sales forecast for Friday are up about 5% over the previous Friday, so maybe we'll see another modest increase for Friday 8/1, too.
