If I ever win something that big, most of it would be used for or left to grassroots causes. Spread out over things like a food pantry, a cat rescue, after school activities for underprivileged kids, senior care, dog shelter, and so on. All of those community needs that don't get funding because it doesn't make money for the already wealthy. Friends or family would get something, just not like 100 mil. We can safely conclude Powerball is going to win the overall race even though it may lose the occasional battle. With the game expanding to United Kingdom, the jackpots will grow much faster and most likely break new records. This is a significant change to the game.

I truly feel lucky to live in a state that does not tax the lottery. The difference in the finally amount with big jackpots runs into the millions of dollars. Actually the tax difference feels like a jackpot win. This is a statistic I do not normally track so it is hard to say if it is a record but it certainly appears to be. Since July 9, 2025 (over 6 months ago), either Powerball or Mega Millions had a jackpot of at least $217 million.
