The Mega Millions jackpot is growing slower than last time because it is being over shadowed by the much larger Powerball jackpot. And/or more of the people who aren't addicted are sitting it out for more general reasons about MM itself. Maryland Pick 5 No trip Pairs or Quads. Suspicious
In pick 5 MD lottery has decided to not play quads or trip pairs. 900 total straight Triples and Pairs , 450 Total Quad Straights and 10 Quints =1,360 total numbers out of 100,000= 1.36% chance of landing. It's been almost 700 drawings since either dropped. Which statistically is equivalent to not getting a triple in pick 3 for around 17 months. Maryland also plays triples at a much less rate compared to other states. This year every state with at least 2 draws have dropped anywhere from 12 to 2

Wanted to update/correct my previous figures, as for some reason I thought there were only three interim prize periods, and there are actually four. Bottom line, 640,900 tickets need to be sold to fund all prizes to be awarded in the Raffle (interim prizes and Grand Prizes.) I'm not eliminating millions of combinations. This is introductory probability theory: probability of winning = number of ways to win divided by total number of ways. It's 2 divided by 292 million. This is not voodoo math. This is real math. Your reasoning is nonsensical, because you're implying that if you were to buy 292,201,337 different combinations (1 less than all of them), you still have only a 50% chance of winning? That's clearly ridiculous, as at that point, your chances of losing

The only reason I play is to win a life changing amount. Just one lottery ticket per drawing if the jackpot has reached $250 or more. The new $5 MM ticket price to too rich for me, so in my state the only option is to play PB (when the jackpot is above $250mil), so I actually don't play the lottery too often. I have my kids pick the numbers when it is time to buy a ticket, and adjust the numbers +1 or -1 if they have picked a recently used number. So far the most I have won is $4
