Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Yet again, another store visit, this time back in MN. Had to stop there for gas while in Owatonna MN for work; picked up a PB for Saturday. Asked two Clerks how MM sales have been going. To My Unsurprise, sales are down, way down according to them. One said, Ever since they jacked it up to $5.00. Yep, sales down equates to revenue down. Seems they were wrong about the Faster Growing Jackpots.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Sounds like your pool is hitting, but just not the big numbers yet. Just out of curiosity, and *only* if you wish to say, how many folks are playing in your pool(s) now and what kind of money are you playing with each draw now? Again, only if you wish to say. I am still in savings mode while waiting for the rollovers to make a really big cash value amount before I commit to a big purchase (or be committed!) . As of the week ending yesterday 07/26/2025 I have 86 draws skipped and $321.00 save

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I think when they sold us Faster growing jackpots they forgot to factor in what could actually happen i.e the jackpot being won sooner. Weird, isn't it? They talk a lot about the upside but not the downside. Revenue per draw is up a bit, but a fair chunk of the revenue goes to pay for the mandatory megaplier. That means the slightly greater revenue isn't enough to put more money towards the jackpot based on the ticket sales we've seen so far. Ticket sales are pretty close to half of wha

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Mega Millions lost this race. MM had sales of just under $564 million from 4/22 through 6/27. PB had sales of just over $498 million. I'm pretty sure the folks running MM think they won. The average MM jackpot for that period was $176.25 million, and somebody won $348 million (actually a fairly modest cash value of $155.5 million). The average for PB was $102.6 million, but two players won jackpots of $178 and $216 million ($77 and $91 million, assuming they take the cash). PB gave away

The last two jackpot wins were unusually low, statistically speaking. For the $348M win, there were 7 million tickets sold. 7 million tickets with a 1 in 290 million chance of winning means the probability that no one wins it is 97.6%. 2.4% chance that someone would win is pretty small but it can happen, and it did. For the $112M win, there were only 5.4 million tickets sold. 5.4 million tickets with a 1 in 290 million chance of winning means the probability that no one wins it is 98.2%

Good new on the MEASLY MILLIONS front... The cash value ticked up a projected $100K for Friday 5/22/26. Perhaps it's a sign of Bigger, Faster jackpots that the participants were advised of. Good luck to all that are players of this game. Help Me Understand This 😭
Does it mean we have fewer people playing MFL in the 31 states where it's available? Very probably, but when random numbers are involved, you can never rule out random streaks of losing and winning. Am I looking at the games wrongly? As a player should the focus be on the odds of winning or how often people are winning regardless? Look at it this way - If somebody else wins the jackpot, are they going to send you a check? If not, you should focus on the odds of you winning.

Inflation affects the cost of operating the game, Inflation also affects state budgets that are partially funded by lotteries. Inflation itself isn't a direct reason for the price increase. Decreasing lottery revenue and efforts to prop it up are the reason, so inflation is an indirect cause. Of course the flip side of that coin is that most players do account for the price/risk of a bet to some degree. Here's the revenue for the first 5 drawings of the last 3 MM runs (current run on le

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
While there are games that cost more than $5..... $10 scratchers, $20 scratchers, $50 scratchers, $20 raffle tickets, etc., the difference is that in those games, you have a vastly higher chance of winning a large amount of money. The problem with the new $5 MM is that they didn't change much of anything. It includes the multiplier for lower prizes (instead of giving you a choice to pay the extra $1). They included a 10X possibility but re-arranged the other multiplier odds to give you preci
