People think gambling is risky.
I agree. Taking chances in life has zero to do with gambling $. It sounds like you are trying to justify spending perhaps too much money gambling. Playing the lottery is for entertainment purposes only. Taking chances is about getting that education, going for that promotion, investing for retirement, getting off your behind every day. I can afford to spend a lot on the lottery but I do not. A.$5 megamillions ticket is not for me. Playing my $1 state cash 5 game when it is high is a good

"Let me borrow a dollar", turns into $500-15,000 win.
Addicted victims are the ones begging for gambling money. Pride is about working hard, getting a good education and contributing to your community. Pride has zero to do with you playing a grifter victim for gambling $.

What???!!! Are you serious? And suggesting cutting someone with a blade. You are sick. One of the most ridiculous posts I have seen on LP. A real con artist. There is a huge difference between borrowing money for a home or car or business vs bumming money because you are a grifter or deadbeat with a habit. Borrowing or bumming a $1 for gambling has zero connection to building trust. I have never bummed money for gambling and I am in the vast majority.

Oregon lottery kept my $1500 winning ticket
I heard this for 2026 Starting January 1, 2026, the federal jackpot tax reporting threshold increases from $1,200 to $2,000 I assume this applies since the huff n puff I have played in casinos is a video slot machine. So should not be reported via W-2G. I guess it's up to you on whether you report the earned income. It might be an interesting poll if the $500 Pick 3 Winners report as income. I would expect most people if they itemize deductions would show a gambling loss for the yea

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I know the dictionary definition of gambling but I don't see buying a lottery ticket as a risk, more like entertainment and a wish to win. Buying in st a casino or race track or sports book for a few yards is taking a risk.

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
From the Merriam Webster dictionary: gambling noun : the practice or activity of betting : the practice of risking money or other stakes in a game or bet. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You're a smart guy. I'm sure you know that gambling is taking a risk. Good luck and have a nice day!

Never did this before
Tucker Black, Since you say you work in a casino I'll take a real wild guess that you are far removed from the action. You have a problem realizing that someone who plays $3000 and wins $2000 Is STUCK $1000. No matter what flaky definition or explanation you try to come up with they are STUCK $1000. Stick to accounting or whatever you do because you have not got a clue about gambling results. STUCK means amount lost, also known as 'in the hole'.

$10M Mega Millions Win!
There are no guarantees in gambling. No you are not going to have a one in 58 million chance, you are going to have reduced the possible combinations by five that's all. Since you still believe in an additional ticket cuts the odds in half just keep buying tickets until the odds are in your favor guaranteed some kind of win.Oh wait, that's not possible.

$10M Mega Millions Win!
Yeah, right, you have a strategy for overcoming over 300M to 1 odds by playing five tickets or even assuring a 10X win of $10M. Run Forrest run! I mentioned the winner bring glad they sprang for the $5 becuase of all the animosity of players toward $5 tickets. Obviously you are unaware that the word guarantee is verboten with any type of gambling, or are you tryinhg to be a tout?
