I am relatively new to the pool and am not too sure on all the rules. The pool manager is based in Canada (so am I) and decides to buy tickets when everyone in the pool can win $1 million in Canadian money after taxes have been deducted. He must have a formula to calculate the taxes and share for each person. He has a relative in the US to buy tickets for the pool.

Have to agree with you on this one Coin Toss. When I lived in New York I used to hop over the border to Pennsylvania and buy PA Millionaire Raffle tickets. They sold a maximum of 500,000 tickets. Our pool has finally run out of money. We played a total of 35 draws - 18 Mega Millions draws and 17 Powerball draws. The pool started in September and ended with the Powerball draw on December 20. We won a few dollars here and there that helped extend the life of the pool. It was amazing there was always a large jackpot to play for close to 4 months. I just noticed there is a change in plans for our pool. The pool bought both Mega Millions and Powerball tickets this time. Mega Millions for Friday and Powerball for Saturday. That would really be something if the pool won both games on the same weekend. There would be one heck of an investigation. The Mega Millions tickets had one 5 times multiplier and one 4 times multiplier. No multiplier option selected for the Powerball tickets.

Oh no, I don't like what am hearing. You are new to the pool and you don't know all the rules. Don't know how many members make up the pool. That's scary. It's always said great lottery pools have laid down rules that members sign against. It's like a legal binding contract. If you don't how how many people are in the pool, how sure are you someone is not getting 5M when you are getting 1M? I have bought multi country lottery tickets as part of a pool. The pool bought Euro Millions and Euro Jackpot tickets when there have been bonus draws with huge jackpots. The jackpots were well over $100 million and the odds are better than both Powerball and Mega Millions.

I belong to a pool that plays Mega Millions and Powerball. The manager of the pool also has pools for UK Lotto. I have not participated in the pools but I see they often win. For example, they played last week and won more money than they spent. This is always a good thing.

I do not know how many people are in the pool. The pool is split up into shares where people can own multiple shares. I only have one share. Winning $1 million is good enough for me. We are only playing 20 tickets per draw. This allows the pool to last a relatively long time. I joined the pool last year and it is still going. I paid $20 to join. The pool buys tickets when the Powerball or Mega Millions is very large. The pool ends when it runs out of money.
