About those NC Digital Online Games...What's the verdict?
I checked this out. They operate like multi-line video slot machines. For $100, you can bet 50 cents a spin and play for hours. The purpose is to burn time. It is possible to win, but it's unlikely because of the low variance. You're grinding your money down, giving the house an average of 12% of your bet, over and over and over. Technically the NC digital games are not slot machines. They are scratch-off tickets. I looked at one and it has 2,000,000 tickets, of which one is the jackpot.

I'm done playing the lottery
What made me mad is that both sides blamed the other. The lottery can tell how much I spent on scratch-offs because those tickets are eligible for a second chance drawing. In their files is a list of tickets I've scanned for second chance drawing entries. But they decided they would rather stick to their guns and blame the retailer, and while they might be right according to the official rules, I also don't have to play their games. And if I do choose to buy any tickets, it certainly won

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Considering 189,977,424 $5.00 MM combos won't match one number or the bonus number, playing games like Lucky for Life, Cash Ball 225 and Texas Two Step gives more chances to actually win something. For the same $5 the 10,000 to 1 odds of winning $25,000 playing pick 4 is much better than the 893,761 to 1 MM odds of matching 4 + 1 to win at least $10,000 depending on what the multiplier is. Granted the prize could be $100,000 but that doesn't change the odds. It should be obvious why MUSL bel

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
I've rethought my ticket buying strategy..... I decided to buy one raffle ticket per week in June. I'm gambling that there wont be a ticket buying frenzy during June. If there is a frenzy, no harm done. If there isn't one, I figured I'd be better off with more tickets in my hand than not. I stopped in a RaceTrack today and bought ticket number 2984XX. BTW I was shocked when I ordered one Florida Millionaire Raffle ticket and the clerk responded with You want MegaMillions? She had never sold

is it luckier to buy tickets on the rich side of town?
This is a classic question in sociology and applied economics, and the answer is well-documented by demographic studies and market research in the United States (such as data from the Brookings Institution, the Tax Foundation, and various state lotteries). The direct answer is: people from all social classes play, but the financial impact, frequency, and motivation are profoundly different between the poorest and the wealthiest. Here is the breakdown of how lottery consumption

The $29.95 Non-Believerz
I bet Elmer's at the same store today jamming money into that machine. Then gonna go get a free hamburger. Then back home to play Oregon trail on his Macintosh. Yup! Tells everyone elese what to do. And his theroys. But never shows any winners..... Learn how to spell. And you can take your nasty attitude and shove it. I have plenty of winners but nothing huge yet. I pick out scratch off games that have a higher than expected chance of winning. But you go ahead and play your stupid

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Wanted to update/correct my previous figures, as for some reason I thought there were only three interim prize periods, and there are actually four. Bottom line, 640,900 tickets need to be sold to fund all prizes to be awarded in the Raffle (interim prizes and Grand Prizes.) The duration of the raffle is 122 days, so sales need to average 5,245 tix a day. Based on the Lottery's figure of 169,906 tix sold as of 4/17 , sales are averaging 3,540 tix/day so far. Hard to say if sales will pick up or

I'm done playing the lottery
I've spent $200 on PB tickets and plenty of money on scratch-off tickets at the vending machine at Safeway on Wadsworth 38th Ave in Wheatridge, CO. I didn't win very much, which I expected given the prize structure of that game. The last time I went there, I scanned $40 worth of winning scratch-off tickets, selected 8 $5 tickets, and when I hit check out , the machine did nothing. I asked the clerk and she told me to contact the Colorado Lottery. I did, and their response was that the retail

mathematics of re-playing small wins
I did my analysis on scratch-off tickets because most of the prize money goes towards lower prizes. With jackpot accumulation draw games such as Powerball, not much goes to lower prizes. To summarize my first post, for the $5 Colorado scratch-off $100,000 Super Bonus, the average number of tickets played is 2.5x or 3x your original bankroll, depending on whether your stop point is $500 or $1,000. Not surprisingly, the improved odds of winning a large prize exactly correlate with the average
