The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
I've rethought my ticket buying strategy..... I decided to buy one raffle ticket per week in June. I'm gambling that there wont be a ticket buying frenzy during June. If there is a frenzy, no harm done. If there isn't one, I figured I'd be better off with more tickets in my hand than not. I stopped in a RaceTrack today and bought ticket number 2984XX. BTW I was shocked when I ordered one Florida Millionaire Raffle ticket and the clerk responded with You want MegaMillions? She had never sold

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Glad I'm keeping an eye on this thread..... For some reason, I thought the drawing for June 1st was TONIGHT, and was planning on checking my tickets via the Florida Lottery App on my iPhone tomorrow morning. But when I saw you guys each won $100, I checked my tickets. Not a winner so far for each and every one of them. Had I won a $100, I'd buy 5 more tickets with that money!!!! No such luck. I might buy one more ticket this week, and one more late in June. Congrats to both of you.

Secrets of a lottery lawyer-Kurt Panouses interview
It's a fair point that many law firms don't represent a lot of big lottery winners. Some law firms aren't interested in accepting a big winning lottery client simply because the revenue stream for them to represent big winners is weak. Those firms will most likely refer out a potential client to another firm. They also understand that they won't get a lot of referrals to their law firm from previous big lottery winners. Kurt Panouses understands all of the above, which is why his firm accep

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
I'm not sure if 415,000 tickets sold is a good thing or not. it's good from the players standpoint of lower odds to win a million dollars, but whether or not the Florida Lottery will cut the number of winners from 10 down to a lower number due to lower sales is another thing altogether. I read the official rules but can't recall seeing anything about that. If this raffle loses money I can't see them being in a big hurry to have more of them. It must be a combination of things for the

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
I've been thinking some more about what I wrote above. I'll take a raffle over MegaMillions or PowerBall everyday. I LIKE raffles. There has to be a reason why The Florida Lottery stopped offering raffles. To my way of thinking, they just didn't make enough profit on them to keep offering them. We'll see what happens with this current raffle, and what The FLA Lottery decides to do in the future after this one concludes. But there just aren't two ways about it. They have to make money o

One more 'one more thing'...... I firmly believe that The Florida Lottery knew well in advance of implementing the midday drawing that ticket sales would go down. By how much they'd go down was probably the only question they had on their minds. They also were very likely aware (probably advised by an advertising/marketing firm) that tampering with something that works very well could have very negative consequences in terms of ticket sales. (Like happened to Coca-Cola when they changed

Florida and Claiming a Jackpot Anonymously
You could always ask them what their policy is. The NY page doesn't always have pictures, but I'm not sure if they have an entry for every player that wins at least $1 million or a lifetime prize. I don't know how far back it goes, but you can keep adding older stories to the NY age for a while. If Florida only shows a dozen recent winners they're definitely not showing every million dollar winner, but I don't see any obvious reason that recent has to mean in the last month or two. They're basic

Post Your Winning Tickets Here
Congrats on your win! This brings to mind a crazy, yet true, experience I had when the Florida lottery first began (back in the late 80's was it?) Anyway, one night I had a very clear dream. In my dream, I was sitting in the vehicle I actually owned at the time. I was parked on some grass, and in front of me was a dirt road. I made a left turn and started driving down the road. After I had driven for a bit, the road entered a deep forest with huge trees. Right where the road entered the for

A. You re correct: players lost value From a player perspective: Expected value went down Jackpot growth was crippled Pool fragmentation favors the house Long-shot strategies became worse That s why many experienced Fantasy 5 players walked away especially those who understood roll dynamics. Your intuition there is dead on. B. More drawings = more betting opportunities (the core benefit) By adding a midday draw, the Florida Lottery effectively: Doubled the numbe
