Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I'm just done with Mega Millions altogether. I played it since it was available in California, so a sample size that runs around 20ish years. The most I ever won was matching 3 numbers for probably around $10. $5 a ticket just became a barrier I wasn't willing to pass through. Whatever I would have normally spent just went to other draw games like California Fantasy 5 tickets instead.
The actual jackpot total plays no part in my decision to buy a ticket or not. I also just get 1 ticket per

Maryland's Multi Match odds are variable
When Mega Millions jumped to $5 per ticket, I decided to occasionally buy Multi Match tickets, along with occasional Power Ball with double play.
Recently I bought two different tickets, and I started looking closer at what I could win. Any one line and win a prize on its own and the odds stay the same. But the second tier of prizes based on all three lines are troubling. The top prize for getting 10 out of the 18 numbers (three lines of 6 numbers each) is often impossible to win on your ti

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot reached $166 million after 11 rolls. In the previous Mega Millions run, the jackpot reached $189 million after 11 rolls.
This time around the cash value for drawing #12 is $75.2 million while PB is advertising a $482 million annuity. Last time around the cash value for drawing #12 was $82.7 million, which is only 10% more, and a much smaller difference than the annuity inflated by a higher interest rates suggests.
Still a long ways off from the 11 roll record o

is it luckier to buy tickets on the rich side of town?
This is a classic question in sociology and applied economics, and the answer is well-documented by demographic studies and market research in the United States (such as data from the Brookings Institution, the Tax Foundation, and various state lotteries).
The direct answer is: people from all social classes play, but the financial impact, frequency, and motivation are profoundly different between the poorest and the wealthiest.
Here is the breakdown of how lottery consumption

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Silly me I thought this is a Mega Millions thread.
Don't let the title of the thread fool you. The thread is really a place to whine, but as in all threads some posts will wander away from the main topic.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Since the Powerball jackpot was just won, again it is highly unlikely it will catch up to the Mega Millions jackpot.
Looks like your pool will be on the PB sideline for quite a while

Drawings being delayed
So my question is if all these states use digital drawings why are there so many delays? Why are cost going up? Thought computers offered secure drawings and why so many tests drawings before an actual drawing plus why does it take so long to verify said drawings when it's already secured? I'm confused. Now actual ball drawings are being delayed including Mega millions today's drawing and why did it take so long to verify that the drawings in a state with computer drawings was rigged? Some one m

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
...Calling Mega Millions measly by people who do not have near the jackpots says a lot about those people.
What do you think it says about them?

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Great analysis. The point about the two types of ticket buyers is something a lot of people overlook, that second group (one ticket per draw regardless of price) will absolutely drive Mega Millions revenue faster than people expect.
I think you're spot on about the jackpot size being the main driver
